  • My Lexus GS400 for Sale

Back in early 2000, I set a personal goal to one day own a Lexus.  If you’ve ever driven in a Lexus, you can appreciate why I wanted one so badly.

Over the next 4 years, I busted my butt adding more and more clients to my website design portfolio.  You see, I didn’t just make money off of the initial site design.  For most of the websites that I designed, I would also host them on a dedicated server that I leased.  It didn’t take very many hosting accounts to cover the cost of my monthly dedicated server leasing fees, so before long, I was earning a pretty significant monthly recurring revenue.

During the 1st quarter of 2004, I was able to finally buy my “dream car”. I purchased a 1999 Lexus GS 400, which only had 33,000 miles on it. The total purchase price was around $31,000. (Brand new Lexus’ cost close to $60,000, and my income wasn’t at that level yet.)

I can still remember the drive home from the Lexus dealership. Fortunately for me, the dealership was located in Charleston, SC, which meant I had a 2 hour drive back home to Savannah.

This would give me plenty of time to “play” with my new toy.  I remember thinking how awesome this car was. The V8, 300HP engine was amazingly quick and very impressive and it had every option you could think of.  Being a gadget lover, the options that impressed me the most were the following:

    1. Auto-leveling headlights – The headlights tilt up and down depending on the angle of the car. For example, if I stop quickly causing the car to dip down in the front, the headlights tilt upwards.  If I accelerate quickly, the headlights tilt downwards.
    2. Dimming rear-view mirror – I don’t know why this impresses me so much, but it does. If you’re like me, you hate it when the person driving behind you has a headlight out of alignment and it shines right into your eyes.  The rear-view mirror on my Lexus “dims” so that it didn’t seem so bright.
    3. Air Filter – I’m not talking about the air filter that your local mechanic changes out every 3rd or 4th oil change.  My Lexus has an air filter that filters out the air within the cabin of the car.
    4. Manual gear shifting – Although this car is an automatic, you can switch it into manual mode, and then shift gears manually by clicking up and down shift buttons on the steering wheel.

Fast forward to the present day, and I’m now selling my Lexus.  My main reason for selling it is because I hardly ever drive it and it’s taking up too much room in my garage.  Being a family of 5, we already have two other vehicles that are more practical to shuttle everyone around in more comfortably.

In the 5 years that I’ve owned my Lexus, I’ve only put about 34,000 miles on it.  (The current mileage is at 67,000.)  Most of the miles I’ve put on the car have been highway miles since I mainly used the car during business trips to Atlanta.  My wife and I also used the car during occasional weekend getaways that the two of us would take. (It’s much more fun to drive this car than it is to drive a mini-van.)

If you’ve always wanted to own a luxury vehicle but couldn’t afford the price tag for a new luxury vehicle, this would be a great car for you to own.  It’s in Excellent-Great condition. I’ve had the oil changed every 3-4000 miles, have always used premium gasoline, and have kept it garaged.

My asking price is $12,500, which is really a great deal for a Lexus GS400 with only 67,000 miles on it.  If you search the internet for other Lexus’ for sale, you’ll see that almost all of the 1999 models have well over 100,000 miles on them.

UPDATE: I sold my Lexus GS 400 on 5/30/2009, so please no longer send me emails requesting additional information.
